The Société Générale Group has based its main sponsorship focus on rugby, with which it shares values of strategy, dynamism, team spirit and professionalism. This long-lasting commitment dates back to 1984.

In 1987, the sponsorship with rugby expanded into an official partnership with the Fédération Française de Rugby. In 1999, Société Générale became a partner of the Ligue Nationale de Rugby in order to associate itself with the development of professional rugby and benefit from the increased visibility of an increasingly successful French championship.

On 29th April 2005, Société Générale signed a contract as official Global Partner of Rugby World Cup 2007.

The bank will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its official involvement in rugby at the same time as the World Cup. This presence at all levels of rugby allows Société Générale to enjoy many rewards in this discipline, and offers a very wide communication platform with the Group’s various clients within its trademark sport.
