Chancellor George Osborne remains adamant that he will not waiver on the severe spending cuts announced in his emergency budget nor does he agree that the cuts will jeopardise growth in the UK economy.
The chancellor told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that the spending review was not unnecessarily harsh but was a coherent strategy to reduce the budget deficit in a fair and progressive way.
